As a small to medium business you may feel it's time to have a web site or you are ready for a change. I design sites that are easy for your customers to navigate and have punch. If you want a site for yourself or club I'd be happy to help.
If you want to see what you will get for your money, I will build a test site of a few pages to give you an overview of what it would look like. You will need to supply the text and photos. If you like what you see we can proceed, if you don't there's no charge. I can't say fairer than that.
CSS
I build sites with Cascading Style Sheets CSS, this is a simple mechanism for adding style (e.g. fonts, colors, spacing) to Web documents.
A few of the other things that CSS does:
1. CSS-based web pages will speed up the loading of your pages considerably because the styles are all contained in one style sheet.
2. CSS will reduce the file size of your html document, this helps reduce load times and the space it takes up on your hosting server.
3. CSS allows you to get rid of a lot of extraneous html code therefore making the site code neater and cleaner.
4. The future of the web is moving towards better accessibility with web sites so they can be viewed by as many people as possible. This may be enforced in future web standards therefore if your web site is still using tables or deprecated tags it may become obsolete or disappear from the search engines.
Graphics and photos
If you are local to the Newmarket area and you need photos taken for the web site I can do this for you at no extra charge if you go ahead with a web site. As a graphic artist I use these skills to give you web site that 'Je ne sais quoi' that will make it standout from the crowd.
Prices
I like to think I offer good value for money and good customer service. I charge £47 per page for a normal text and photo web page. A normal six page site would cost £282. Goggle others designers in the area to see what they charge. If you want Flash movies/ galleries added or Pay Pal buttons this will costs a little bit more per page.

Search Engine Optimization
Once you have a web site is important that it gets found on the internet. Many sites via for the same market therefore it is crucial that your site gets found when a potential customer searches for an item or service. This is where coding in your pages comes in. This is part of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and it helps Goggle find your site and matches it to a search. When I build a site for a customer I add these codes and name web pages to help make your site get found by Goggle and other search engines and I try to get it on the top ten pages. Many of my customers come up on page one of Goggle due to my SEO, but depends on the market you are vying for as large companies throw thousands of pounds at SEO and change their codes sometimes weekly to keep on top.
I also add Goggle analytics to your pages so you can find out what traffic is coming to your web site and how it found you. This can tell even tell you which country or part of a country the web site visitor came from.
I do add Flash movies/ galleries to your site if needed, but I do not build total Flash web sites as Flash SWF files do not carry a lot of information for Goggle to find you. As an intro Flash is fine and flash movies to promote your business with in normal web pages is also acceptable. But remember Flash objects take time to download and those with dial-up connections and there are still many out there, sometimes give up if a page takes to long to load!
Web Mastering
Once you have a site built you need someone to get it on to the internet for you using File Transfer Protocol (FTP) I will do that for you free of charge. If you need someone to Web Master the site I can also do that as well. If changes to the site are small and only take a few moments I do not charge. If you want more complicated changes made that will take longer I charge £20 per hour. I do not charge a yearly fee to look after the site.
Spam
I hate Spam, so all the email address in your web site will be encoded to stop spam spiders from harvesting your email. If your email is already live on the net, it may be already too late!
Take control of your site with web content management
As a web site designer I'm constantly approached by clients wanting to take control their own web site content, but often they do not have any technical knowledge of HTML or web sites.
So, I spent a whole day surfing the net looking for Content Management Software that would be easy to use and most of all it had to be good value for money. Time and time again the software I found was complicated,expensive or had monthly fees. Because I design your web site using Adobe Dreamweaver CS4, the industries top web site design software, all of my web sites are built to be compatible with Contribute for easy user management of text and images. Editing is as easy as using Mircosoft Word.

The new full-featured in-browser editor in Contribute CS4 provides a powerful yet familiar interface for editing and publishing web pages within your browser and you don't need any other exspensive web design software to keep on top of your web site! Don't panic you don't have enter any FTP details or server pass words as I do all of that for you, I will send you a connection key via email and a password word via another email and all you have to is the following:
1. Ensure that Adobe Contribute is installed on your computer.
2. Double-click the connection key e-mail attachment.
3. Complete the dialog box that appears in Contribute, then click OK. This your name the pass word I sent you. Contribute will then connect to your web site so you can begin editing right away.
